Description
This report compares mechanisms for the financing of HIV/AIDS programmes in Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, South Africa, Swaziland and Zimbabwe.

The research for this report was done as part of the work of Social Aspects of HIV/AIDS Research Alliance (SAHARA). SAHARA is a flexible network of partners working in the sub-Saharan African region. Initiated by the Social Aspects of HIV/AIDS and Health Research Programme of the Human Sciences Research Council, the alliance includes governments, NGOs, donors, researchers and academics. SAHARA secures funding for multi-country and multi-site studies, conducts research and monitors and evaluates HIV/AIDS programmes throughout the region. SAHARA is committed to using common research methods to allow the generation of knowledge and information to be rapidly shared. It is hoped that SAHARA's research will lead to evidence-based policy making and implementation in the region. Further information about the work and publications of this alliance is available at www.sahara.org.za.
